Traveling to family

miles and miles and miles of driving in drizzle
We’ve been gone a week
visiting family
cold rainy drive south to Georgia
cold rainy drive north, back home to Maryland
perfect weather, really

It was our dear sister-in-law’s birthday
had she not died last spring

We traveled
to remember together
to feel together
to be together

Some celebrations are like this
Tony making his mama’s biscuits – a tradition, every time we visit
It's Tuesday and I'm participating in Slice of Life.

  1. Maureen,
Yes, the weather does seem appropriate for such a trip. The mood, right? Love that photo of To y in the kitchen baking biscuits. That, too, is remembering and honoring.

    • The first thing I did when I got home was take a hot shower – I feel as if I have been cold and chilly for days, hahaha. It was a really good trip, though – much needed. Her death had surprised us all , last spring; this was a chance to be together and process. Plus – there were two new baby “grand niblings” lol, reminding us that life goes on and it is very precious.
